To be considered the Best Tennis Town, our panel of experts is looking for the community that best exemplifies the passion, excitement, community spirit and impact tennis brings to members of the community.
Process:
Initial Round: A panel of qualified judges selected by the USTA will select The Top Ten (10) communities as finalists from among the eligible entries based on the Criteria set forth below.
The level of passion and spirit and the impact of tennis displayed in the Community's video. (50%)
The creativity and originality displayed in the Community's video. (20%)
The level of passion and support for tennis described in the Community's five (5) letters. (15%)
The level of collaboration and partnership surrounding tennis in the Community. This includes evidence of Community partners working together to support, improve and expand the quality of life in the Community through tennis (parks, schools, community tennis associations, private businesses, local government, etc.). (5%)
The quality of tennis programming in the Community, including the programs available to all ages and skill levels and outreach to underserved populations. (5%)
The thoroughness and level of detail of the responses provided on the nomination form. (5%)
The USTA will contact the Nominator of each Finalist by telephone on or prior to July 15, 2010, and each finalist will be showcased online at www.besttennistown.com beginning on July 16, 2010.
Final Round: Beginning on July 16, 2010 and ending on July 26, 2010, the public will vote for one community among the finalists for the 3 prize winners and 7 honorable mentions.
All eligible voters will judge the entries based on the following criteria:
The level of passion and spirit and the impact of tennis displayed in the Community's video. (50%)
The creativity and originality displayed in the Community's video. (20%)
The top three (3) towns will be informed that they have made it to the final three (3) for The 2010 Best Tennis Town title on or about July 30, 2010. The official announcement of Grand Prize, Second Prize, and Third Prize will be announced at the US Open, date to be determined. All three communities will be invited to send 2 community representatives for the official announcement.
