  5. I live in an area with a fairly low population with only a handful of courts- will my town be considered the same as a city like Miami, Atlanta, or Chicago?
Absolutely- remember, passion does NOT equal population! The USTA acknowledges that one of the great byproducts of the search for the Best Tennis Town will be finding tennis in new and unexpected places. If you're proud of your community in how it embraces and enjoys tennis, tell us! We want to hear from every region, state, & county, every big city and every small town alike.

  6. I'm from Puerto Rico (i.e. the Caribbean Section). Is my town eligible?”
Yes, you and your town are eligible. As long as you have a US Postal Service Zip Code, you can participate in The Best Tennis Town contest.

  7. One of our town/city officials is also a USTA employee. Are we ineligible for entry?
Yes, you are still eligible- however, that particular official is prohibited from involvement in the town's application process. He/she cannot be the town's nominator, nor can he/she be responsible for developing or creating any materials for the nomination.

  8. My town doesn't appear correctly when I enter my zip code? Is there a way to fix this?
In this unlikely scenario, feel free to click on the "Contact Us" tab in the second navigation bar below "What is Best Tennis Town?" and send us a message with your information properly attached- the Best Tennis Town site administrator will process your message and attend to the inquiry in a timely and effective manner.

  9. I wasn't the first to nominate my town, and I feel that I can offer a superior presentation as to why my town is the Best Tennis Town or someone unqualified or under-qualified submitted an entry and is not an ideal/official representative of our city. Can there be dual applications?
No, there can only be one applicant per town name as identified by a zip code in our search database.

  10. How can I go about deleting/replacing their entry?
Contact us via e-mail us at besttennistown@usta.com or via the "Contact Us" tab on the navigation bar and voice your concerns in writing. Explain your situation thoroughly, and you will be contacted soon after.

  11. If a professional player wanted to endorse our town, would that be helpful to our nomination?
If it is their wish to contribute to your pitch and project, then there are no rules against having a professional player involved with The Best Tennis Town contest. However, please take the time to check to see if the player has involvement or employment with the USTA, as USTA employees, affiliates, advertisers, and their immediate families are prohibited from contest entry.

  12. If tennis is new in my area- but we're really enthusiastic about the sport- should we even bother trying to submit something when more established areas are also part of the contest?
Yes! We're looking for a town that is above and beyond enthusiastic about tennis. What better time to apply than when tennis interest and participation is at an all-time high? The desire to play, learn, and have fun is paramount. The Best Tennis Town contest is your opportunity to point the spotlight firmly upon your community and show that when it comes to tennis, some places can have more players, and some places may have more facilities... but no other place in the country can match your passion and the impact Tennis has had on your town.
